Recently, I have become very fond of 3D modeling, and if earlier I worked directly in the game engine editor, molding some “masterpieces” in it, now my interest has shifted towards the universal 3D content creation application. Of course, it takes a car and a couple more cars…in general a lot of time. We have to pick 3Ds MAX. For the people enlightened in this area this abbreviation should be known. If you do not belong to such an abbreviation, it is, I do not hesitate to say, one of the most powerful and popular editors on the market. It makes models and graphics for most games and movies. And since I have already introduced this editor here before, now I want to introduce his brother or sister…I don’t know how to put it in general. In any case, there is still a Maya editor, from the same developers, Autodesk.
Autodesk Maya Key – represents the powerful environment for 3D modelling, animation, a composite, rendering. In it you can make absolutely everything that will choose in your head: to construct the house, or the whole city, to brawl model of your enemy or the former, and to send them together on the moon without suits, to draw colourful landscapes, to play with physics and other… everything not to list. The editor offers a great variety of tools for all this. And if it will not be enough, there are also plug-ins, with which you can expand the functionality of the application, or improve some functions, in particular rendering. I think you know that the rendering that’s usually included in the product is not as good, and there are more advanced ones in terms of realistic output images like VRay or Arnold Renderer. The latter is already included in this version of the installer, and is highlighted by default for installation.
Just for the sake of interest, this editor was put up for comparison with 3Ds MAX, and searched the Internet, than the latter differs from this Maya… Someone says that Maya has more opportunities for beginners in modeling, it can be customized to suit themselves and tools more conveniently than in 3Ds MAX, because some operations in the latter are performed in a few steps, against one in Maya… Personally, from my observation the differences are already hitting on the head after the launch of the package. The interface, although similar, is quite different. The camera’s perspective control features are very different in 3Ds MAX, I think it’s all more convenient in this respect…
To sum up, I’ll say: in any case, you need to work where it is more convenient and habitual. It seems to me that it is not reasonable to retrain from one program to another…it seems to me that they perform all the same functions, somewhere it will be easier, somewhere more difficult…If you have time, experiment.
